Mr Thomas Boerger MD FRCSI

Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon

Hip Conditions

Mr Boerger investigates and treats established hip arthritis. He provides total hip replacement surgery for patients who can no longer manage their symptoms with non-surgical means.

Partial Knee Replacement

Mr Boerger provides partial knee replacement surgery, mainly as an uncemented implant, to patients with single compartment knee osteoarthritis. The Oxford medial partial knee replacement provides excellent clinical outcomes and high rates of patient satisfaction. Partial knee replacement replaces only the arthritic part of the knee. It can correct bow leg deformity. Importantly, the cruciate ligaments and the unaffected compartments are preserved resulting in normal knee movements and a natural knee feel.

Mr Boerger provides bilateral partial knee replacement in one operation when required. Instead of undergoing two operations patients benefit from having both knees replaced during a single treatment episode. One pre-assessment, one anaesthetic, one hospital admission, one period of rehabilitation and follow-up. The cumulative risks are smaller than with two separate operations.

Total Knee Replacement

Total knee replacement is appropriate when more than one of the three knee compartments is affected by osteo-arthritis, the knee is stiff and or deformed.

Mr Boerger performs total knee replacement with and without robotic assistance using industry leading implants.

Mr Boerger utilises the CORI Robotic Assisted Surgical System to enhance precision and predictability in total knee replacement.
